God continues to pour out blessings on the recreation ministry of Salem Baptist Church. We had two families join last Sunday who has played in our ministry for the past three years. This family has participated in our children and adult sports. God has been so faithful to our sports ministry and I give him all the praise.
Later this month I will marry a couple who ultimately came to this church through our sports ministry. I can not wait to see how God is going to continue to use them not as two but as one in the sports ministry at Salem. Again all glory goes to Christ for he is the rock that this ministry is built upon.
I had the privilege to preach last night on the Presence of Christ from Matthew 14: 22-33. Every time I preach/teach, I want to bring Christ glory. I never want it to be about me, but about him. So I pose the question, What have you done for Christ lately, or better yet today? If you can't answer that question, God can certainly use you in the Salem Sports ministry. There are several opportunities for you to serve. If you are interested please let me know as soon as possible. I would hate for you to miss out on a blessing from God.
The "Field Crew" will soon begin working after practices on Friday nights to get the fields ready for Saturday games and complete some needed projects, including rebuilding the warm up pitching mounds. Let me (or Jason) know if you would like to come out and help on Friday nights.
ReplyDeleteIf it were not for the Recreation Ministry, I do not know if we would have ever visited Salem. However, God used the sports ministry as the tool that led my family to become a part of the tremendous church family that is Salem baptist.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was growing up, there were no programs like Salems or Upwards. I always played in the Rec. leagues and I loved baseball so much that I chased a dream to make it to the pro's and made it to the college ranks. If you had told me back then that God would one day put me in a place where I would get to use the sport I love most to make a difference in people's lives I would never have believed it. What an experience it has been and if you are not involved with the Sports ministry let me encourage you to give it a try. It will be one of the best experiences of your life.
