Men's Accountability
God has convicted me of not practicing a discipline in my life. That discipline is accountability, particularly one on one accountability. One may ask why would you get together with someone to ask difficult questions for accountability? I saw what accountability can do when Bert and I challeged each other to see who could lose the most weight. Those weekly weigh ins were incredble as we saw who had the greatest weight loss. I prayed for God to send someone my way for an accountability partner and God answered my prayer quickly. Thus tomorrow Bert Brantley and I will meet tomorrow morning to ask each other questions that will grow our us in our walk with Christ. As of now this is a one on one experience, but it could grow into a small group as we pray and seek what the Lord would have us do. If you are interested in doing something like this look at the questions below and see if you could use something like this in your life. Here are the questions we will be asking each other to start things off:
1. How often have you spent time in the Bible and prayer this week? Be specific: time and place. Psalm 119:11, Matthew 6:33
2. What have you done this week to spend quality, relational time with your wife and family? What could you do? 1 Peter 3:7, Ephesians 5:25-33
3.Who have you been praying for this week? John 17:20, Colossians 1:3
4. What have you been learning in your time with God (Promises, Problems, Perspective, Praise)? Hebrews 1:1-2, John 4:26
5. What steps have you taken this week to guard yourself against lustful thoughts, actions, and/or materials? 2 Timothy 2:22, 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4
6. How have you shaded the truth this week to make yourself look better to others? Proverbs 6:16-19
7. How did you give your best this week (at work, school, etc.)? 1 Corinthians 10:31
8. In what ways have you been above reproach in financial matters this week? Leviticus 19:35-36
9. Who have you shared your faith with this week? 1 Peter 3:15
10. Have you answered these questions truthfully? Proverbs 27:17
Again, I pray that you would seek the Lord to see if this is something you need in your life. If so let me and Bert know ASAP. This is not a prayer meeting or prayer breakfast, this is accountability for your daily walk with Christ.

Salem Sports
God continues to pour out blessings on the recreation ministry of Salem Baptist Church. We had two families join last Sunday who has played in our ministry for the past three years. This family has participated in our children and adult sports. God has been so faithful to our sports ministry and I give him all the praise.
Later this month I will marry a couple who ultimately came to this church through our sports ministry. I can not wait to see how God is going to continue to use them not as two but as one in the sports ministry at Salem. Again all glory goes to Christ for he is the rock that this ministry is built upon.
I had the privilege to preach last night on the Presence of Christ from Matthew 14: 22-33. Every time I preach/teach, I want to bring Christ glory. I never want it to be about me, but about him. So I pose the question, What have you done for Christ lately, or better yet today? If you can't answer that question, God can certainly use you in the Salem Sports ministry. There are several opportunities for you to serve. If you are interested please let me know as soon as possible. I would hate for you to miss out on a blessing from God.
